The website of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is currently down following a cyberattack on Federal Government websites launched by the Anonymus group famously known on Twitter as Anonymous@LiteMods.
The group had indicated support for the #EndSARS movement and threatened to attack all websites of the Federal government if the Government did not assent to the demands of the #ENDSARS protesters in 72hours.
Since the group launched its attack on Friday, it has claimed responsibility for bringing down over ten government’s websites as well as First Bank of Nigeria, whose website the group said it attacked for allegedly freezing the account of #ENDSARS protesters.
Websites already attacked by the Anonymous group include Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, the Nigerian Army, I am Buhari, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) , Ministry of Justice amongst others.
The website of the telecoms company- Glo – was also brought down for allegedly failing to condemn police brutality in Nigeria while the Twitter handle of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has been taken over by the hacker group.
The group in a tweet said it is collating and will distribute data on illegal/fraudulent activities in Nigeria as well as secrets of the Nigerian government. They also asked Nigerians to pick the government websites they want hacked.
