Customs Service releases list of approved Checkpoints


The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has released the list of approved checkpoints in the country.


The release followed the directive by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Hameed Ali to dismantle illegal check-points beyond 40km radius of the border posts.


The Public Relations Officer of the Customs, Mr Joseph Attah in a statement explained that the move was in line with the Executive Order on the ease of doing business in the country.


According to the statement, the approved checkpoints include Lagos Agbara-Gbaji along Lagos Seme Express way; Ogun Ajilete- Ihumbo,Ayetoro and Atan along Idiroko-Lagos road; Oyo Igbeti; Edo Benin Toll gate, Ewu Junction; Anambra Onitsha head bridge; Borno/Yobe Damasak-Dikwa, Duji; Akwa-Ibom/Cross-River- Uya-Oro, Ikom, Urua, Akpa Junction and Katsina Agangaro,Shoroka.


Others include Adamawa/Taraba Baisa- Mang, Ngoroje, Kanyaka , Gembu-Cameroun Road, Gembu-Jalingo, Gembu-Cameroun Road; Kano/Jigawa Maigatari-Babura/Turare, Achilafia, Daura Road; Niger Luma and Sokoto Gurbin Banre- Mamman Suka, Tangaza.


Attah who advised the trading public to take note of the checkpoints to avoid delay.


He said, “Nigeria Customs Service relationship with members of the business community and indeed travelling public is sometimes frosty, arising from either lack of knowledge or appreciation of the crucial role of the Service to national security and economic well-being. Hence the Service wishes to make public the list of approved Customs check-points and what is required from stakeholders at such check-points to avoid unnecessary delay.”
